Twentyseven Global congratulates Mike Farmer and his team at Leap.it for winning the Rise of the Rest competition and a $100,000 prize from Steve Case! The check was presented at
The Big Happy, a networking reception from Silicon Prairie News’ annual Big Kansas City event, which was a success last week for Kansas City software development companies and tech startups.
At the event, Kansas City companies showcased all of the creativity and spirit they had to offer. Highlights included musical entertainment by Victor & Penny, bits from Patrick Ryan’s Port Fonda and cocktails from world-renowned Manifesto Founder Ryan Maybee.
Events culminated at 6:30, when Steve Case, co-founder of AOL and Revolution, presented a check to KC-based search website Leap.it, which won the $100,000 grand prize from a Rise of the Rest pitch contest completed earlier in the day.
Case’s goal in creating the Rise of the Rest Tour was to highlight the startup ecosystems in five major cities across the Midwest. Startups in each city competed in a pitch competition to win a $100,000 personal investment from Case himself.
