The Alternative Investment Forum will be held in Kansas City on June 2, 2016, bringing high net-worth investors, institutional investors, wealth advisors, family offices and private equity firms face-to-face with alternative investment opportunities.
The highlight of the event will be a panel educating investors about alternative investments in the Kansas City area. Among others, the panel features Darcy Howe of the KC Rise Fund, Ron LeMay of OpenAir Equity Partners and Mike Peck of Flyover Capital. Check out the full list on the official website.
The Alternative Investment Forum couldn’t come at a better time. According to Startland News, researchers surveyed 80 Kansas City investors and found that most high-net-worth investors need improved communication with other investors. The Alternative Investment Forum conducted the survey along with KCSourceLink to gauge investors’ interests.
The survey identified a concern for not knowing what investment opportunities are available. Due diligence, or the process of investigating whether a deal will be successful or not, is another obstacle to area investors.
Despite many investors not knowing the breadth of opportunities available to them, the survey identified a solid interest in startups. Fifty-seven percent of those surveyed said they have already invested between $50,000 and $1 million in startups, while 62 percent said they were interested in startup investments. Sixty-eight percent said that they needed more information on early-stage investing. The Alternative Investment Forum on June 2 will help bridge the gap between investors and opportunities in the Kansas City area.
