The countdown is on. Techweek comes to KC for the second year in a row from Sept. 12 – 16, 2016, and takes place in several iconic spots in the downtown area. The week begins on Monday night with a kick-off party at Up-Down, an arcade-themed bar in the heart of the Crossroads district with over 50 arcade games from the 80s and 90s. All games cost a only quarter and Up-Down features over 50 craft beers on tap.
The excitement continues on Tuesday at Village Square to showcase Kansas City Startup Village. KC Startup Village is an entrepreneur-led community for other startups and entrepreneurs in the area. Their mission is to foster education and create endless opportunities for startup activity in Kansas City. Later on that evening, don’t miss Night at the Nerdery, where techies will gather to discuss and tackle the toughest challenges in the software industry.
Thursday is jam-packed with a variety of events that appeal to all aspects of the tech community. We’re looking forward to hearing from Andrew Hopkins, Managing Director and IoT lead of Accenture and Matt Condon, CEO of Bardavon Health Innovations, who will speak about Global IoT happenings and how to utilize real data. Twentyseven Global CEO Steve Roatch will also be sponsoring a roundtable discussion on Thursday, which will cover how to mitigate risk in a technology venture investment.
The week winds down on Friday, but the day is sure to be memorable. LaunchKC will be announcing the 10 winners of their grant competition; 20 startups from across the globe will pitch their startup companies to a panel of judges, who will then narrow the field down to just 10 winners. The recipients will receive $50,000 in funding, one year of free office space in Kansas City, as well as invaluable business consulting.
