Software development company, Twentyseven Global, congratulates Kansas City for continuing to showcase its entrepreneurial and tech communities in hosting the second-annual Gigabit City Summit in May 2016. Cities from across the United States will come to learn from Kansas City’s personal experience with gigabit Internet access and how to use it to create maximum impact. The Gigabit City Summit is a three-day learning and networking opportunity exclusively designed for leaders in current and emerging Gigabit cities. Last year’s summit drew 225 attendees from 50 different cities throughout the United States.

KC Digital Drive is sponsoring the conference and hopes to double last year’s numbers. In an article by the Startland News, Aaron Deacon, Managing Director for KC Digital Drive, said, “The Gigabit City Summit started because cities want to know how to take advantage of new tech-driven city infrastructure. We’ve seen that cities who start with an interest in fiber quickly recognize the need for social capacity around things like digital inclusion, their innovation ecosystem, entrepreneurship, meaningful pilots in healthcare and education.”

KC Digital Drive is a non-profit organization whose mission is to make Kansas City a digital leader and improve the quality of life for all people in the region. Earlier this year, Steve Roatch, president of Kansas City software development company Twentyseven Global, presented at KC Digital Drive on new avenues for the collection and use of consumer-generated health data. Roatch presented on Apple’s ResearchKit and what it means for the advancement of digital health technology. The emergence of digital health and the opportunities it provides are fairly new concepts and it is imperative that those who seek an opportunity with digital health understand the nuances and capitalize through innovation. Through collaboration and with other developers you can help the population see a direct benefit from digital health initiatives.

Digital health is just one of the topics that will be discussed at the Global City Summit. According to the Global City Summit website, “Technology infrastructure affects so many parts of our cities: digital equity, economic development, healthcare, education, the startup community and government services.”

The Gigabit City Summit offers you the opportunity to connect with other experts in the field and get advice on how to make a bigger impact in your city. Kansas City has generated a lot of success in the tech industry because of its willingness to collaborate and hear different views and opinions from industry leaders. So don’t miss out on your chance to connect.
