Data Engineer

Leawood, KS or Denver, CO

As a Data Engineer you will design and implement solutions as part of the 27Global Data Architecture team. In this role, you will contribute to the design specifications and development process of the data solutions for multiple clients, building on primarily AWS and Azure cloud platforms. You will work closely with data architects, consultants, and other data engineers following a Scrum process.

Your role:

  • Participate in requirement and design sessions with product managers, engineering teams, business stakeholders and assist in producing design documentation for data lifecycle and delivery solutions
  • Communicate with consultants, and engineering team members on a daily basis for multiple client projects
  • Implement and maintain data solutions according to the design specifications in cloud platforms (Azure or AWS) using a variety of resources such as Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, Lambda Functions, Azure Synapse, Redshift, DataBricks, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, NoSQL, Data Lake, etc.
  • Develop code in Python, Scala, or C# for Apache Spark in analytics notebooks such as DataBricks
  • Build CI/CD pipelines for the data solution resources in cloud
  • Conduct functional and integration testing
  • Participate in code reviews and provide feedback on improving the quality of code
  • Analyze new tools and technologies and document/present the results
  • Work as a part of a scrum team to build the solutions and assist the team in scope, estimate, and project schedule
  • Assist with Site Reliability Services engagements (dev/ops, cloud environment management)
  • Help maintain excellent client relationships; add value to the sales process from a technical standpoint

What you bring:

  • Bachelor/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data and Analytics, or related field of study, or equivalent relevant work experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on development experience in any platform
  • 5+ years of development experience in python/C#/Java/Scala
  • 5+ years of relational database experience (MS SQL Server/Oracle/Postgres/MySQL)
  • 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience implementing data pipelines using any ETL tools
  • Ability to context switch and work on a variety of projects over specified periods of time
  • Ability to work at 27Global offices in either Leawood, KS or Denver, CO with hybrid work flexibility after 90 days, and occasionally onsite at client offices
  • Flexibility to occasionally travel to client sites may be required, typically 1 week per quarter or less
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States and the ability to prove eligibility at the time of hire

Ways to stand out:

  • Hands-on data pipeline experience with Azure/AWS
  • Experience in data streaming such as Kafka and Spark Streaming
  • Software Engineering development experience in C#/Java
  • Hands-on engineering experience implementing data pipelines using Azure Data Factory or AWS Glue or DataBricks or any other ETL tools
  • Experience with data catalog (Azure Purview/Alation/Informatica or any other) and visualization tools (Power BI/QuickSight/Tableau)
  • DevOps experience with Git or Azure DevOps or AWS CloudFormation
  • AWS/Azure Certification in Data Engineering/Analytics

For Colorado Applicants: The expected starting salary range for this position in Colorado is between $76,000 to $135,000. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. The position is also eligible for quarterly incentive compensation.
